The Managing Member of the Firm, John R. Parnell has been practicing law in the State of Michigan since 1980.
In the 1970s, John R. Parnell received his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Miami and his Master's Degree from Western Michigan University . He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the Detroit College of Law. Mr. Parnell has served as House Counsel for one of Michigan 's largest insurance companies and has been in private practice for more than 35 years. Mr. Parnell is a Trial Attorney with experience in Family Law, Personal Injury, Business and Commercial Litigation, Estate Planning and Probate Administration. Mr. Parnell has lectured and chaired seminars in many of these areas of practice. Mr. Parnell has a unique approach in handling sensitive issues. He is aware of the personal trauma and pain individuals suffer when going through divorce or injury/death of a family member. He is sensitive to the issues involved in the planning of an estate and in administering to the affairs of a loved one who has passed away.
In business matters, Mr. Parnell has the knowledge to represent any business entity in the development of a business plan and what is required when one sells or acquires a business concern. John R. Parnell has represented clients in both State and Federal Courts. He has resolved cases for his client for sums in excess of over three million dollars. He has brought suit against and defended individuals and major corporations to the satisfaction of his clients for many years.
Over the years he has also been a part-time adjunct faculty at Wayne State University, University of Detroit and the University of Michigan where he has taught classes in specialized areas of the law. He is a member of numerous bar associations throughout the State. As a long time member of the community, Mr. Parnell has served as a Commander of the Grosse Pointe Farms ESU and was the Chairman of the Board of the Lakeshore YMCA.

Mr. Parnell, Jr. concentrates his practice on foreclosure avoidance, real property litigation, estate planning, probate litigation, family law, consumer debt defense, and criminal law. Prior to joining The Parnell Firm, Mr. Parnell, Jr. protected the rights of indigent individuals at the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office; and gained further experience working with a probate and estate planning firm. His diverse knowledge makes him an invaluable asset to this firm.
Mr. Parnell Jr.’s clients include individuals and family businesses. Additionally, he is general counsel for several family businesses. Mr. Parnell, Jr. also serves on the board of directors for a number of private foundations. He is active in a variety of community organizations, including the Grosse Pointe Farms Police ESU.

David concentrates his practice in Deceptive Business Practices, Debt Collection Harassment, Class Actions and Representative Actions, Business Organization and Litigation, Civil Rights, Criminal Defense, and Credit Report Errors. David is accredited as a National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) attorney and therefore strictly advocates for Consumers/Debtors against Debt Collectors and their attorneys.
Prior to joining The Parnell Firm, David spent time with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Washtenaw County Office of the Public Defender, and a private defense firm. David has represented both the Victim and the Accused; and as such, he possesses a unique perspective of both sides of the courtroom. David also works to defend the accused beyond the Trial Court, in the Michigan Court of Appeals. David has worked on many cases with the State Appellate Defender’s Office. Most notably, David has successfully argued in the Michigan Court of Appeals to overturn an illegal search and seizure by a Oakland County Sheriff Department. David remains committed to his clients beyond the courtroom and makes sure that every issue is carefully examined and raised in the interest of his clients.
